It seems to be working just fine. At least their web site, I don’t know about their server since I don’t use them. I’d recommend Surfbouncer as a alternative should the server not be functional. http://www.surfbouncer.com. I like their logging policy.

Safari on the iPhone functions as an RSS reader as well. If you bookmark a feed URL it behaves like a simple RSS reader, perhaps even playing embedded media.

I have actually played with a program which turned my home computer into slim media server over the web. It was called… hmmm. Slim Server? And I got it to work, but didn’t see it being useful enough to bother setting up a DynDNS service or anything and keeping my home computer running all the time.

Geeky, fiddly solutions to remote access and control (VNC, I’m looking at you, bitch) are fun to look at and poke at, but as a hobbyist I often give up after a modest amount of trouble since the payoff doesn’t seem very high. It’d be a different story if I was administering a commercial system remotely, but I ain’t. And so I’ll wait until someone cleverer than I codes an elegant zero-config system for me.

Does iPhone have an RSS reader? If so, that could be a pretty quick path to providing your home media…would just have to code a server-side RSS program to get to it. Podcast from your house…

I think you have an interesting point. On the other hand…it seems that AT&T could easily counter a P2P onslaught simple by shutting it down on their network, or, better yet, charging for bandwidth.

You can also write it as “admin-at-badmotivator-DAAT-net”

I find that “DAAT” adds a bit of a northern European flavor when you’re Jonesing for socialized medicine.
